As Pontes

WHAT IS YOUR TOWN LIKE? WHAT ELEMENTS WOULD YOU HIGHLIGHT?

Knowing As Pontes

The objective of ‘A Vila da Mañá’ is to change the model of town or city, we believe that another one can be possible. This is achieved through the protagonist participation of local children and teenagers who, working with fundamental concepts through tactical urbanism actions, become active citizens capable of transforming their spaces.

In this case we work with the perception of their own body and the environment that surrounds them. By understanding how they perceive their town, we try to provoke in children and teenagers a new vision of everyday spaces, seeking to break away from what they know, so that they can see the same places with different eyes.

“Within the situationist procedures, drifting is presented as a technique of uninterrupted passage through diverse environments. The concept of drifting is indissolubly linked to the recognition of psychogeographic effects and to the affirmation of a playful-constructive behavior that is opposed in all aspects to the classic notions of traveling and walking. […]. But drifting, in its unitary character, includes this letting go and its necessary contradiction: the mastery of psychogeographic variables through knowledge and the calculation of possibilities. […] Chance plays in drifting a role all the more important the less settled the psychogeographical observation is.”

Colour your village

The city/town we are working in has become a playground, an experimentation laboratory where children and teenagers can act from a new point of view.
